The Pixel 8 Pro brings back the camera feature removed from Pixel phones in 2020

Google has brought back the ability to shoot ultra-wide astrophotography photos to the Pixel 8 Pro. This feature was removed from the Pixel 4a (5G) and the Pixel 5 back in 2020, and it allows users to take stunning photographs of the night sky. The 48MP ultra-wide image sensor on the Pixel 8 Pro, combined with 4:1 pixel binning, improves the quality of images shot in low-light while also reducing noise. This feature may have been brought back to attract customers to the more expensive Pixel 8 Pro model. The Pixel 8 Pro will have the option to shoot astrophotography at 1x (standard), 2x, and .5x (ultra-wideband). It seems that ultra-wide astrophotography will be limited to the Pixel 8 Pro as it may not be backward compatible with older models. Therefore, this feature may become exclusive to the new Pro model each year.
