Apple is currently investigating a touch-related problem affecting the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, as disclosed in an internal memo to Apple Authorized Service Providers, reported by MacRumors.

Some customers have described the issue as “ghost” touches, resulting in unexpected screen behavior and unintentional actions like accidental phone calls. This unpredictability can make tasks like entering passcodes challenging for affected users.

While Apple has not specified the scope of the problem or identified any potential hardware defects, it has advised customers to ensure their devices are running the latest versions of watchOS. It appears that a future software update may address this issue.

In the meantime, Apple has instructed authorized service providers not to attempt repairs on Series 9 and Ultra 2 while the investigation is ongoing. Individuals experiencing this issue have been advised to perform a force restart of their Apple Watch by simultaneously pressing and holding the Digital Crown and side button for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

The Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 were launched in September. With Apple acknowledging the problem and issuing guidance to authorized service providers, there is a high likelihood that this issue will be resolved soon. Stay tuned for further updates as we receive them!
