Samsung’s latest One UI 6.1 update, introduced on the Galaxy S24, brings exciting new AI features known as Galaxy AI. Originally planned for release on the Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5, with the Galaxy S22 scheduled to receive it in May, Samsung has surprised users by rolling out the update earlier than expected. Some Galaxy S22 users are already able to download the One UI 6.1 update that includes the innovative AI features.
According to reports from Android Police and various social media platforms, the 2.8GB software update is now available in Korea for a range of Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 3. While users in Europe and the U.S. may not have access to the update just yet, Samsung typically ensures a swift global release following initial availability.
The upcoming May One UI update will also extend to the Galaxy Tab S8 series; however, the software has not been made live as of now.
Despite some hardware limitations on older devices like the S22 that prevent them from supporting all of the advanced features of Galaxy AI found on flagship models, users can still look forward to AI-powered functionalities such as Live Translate, Chat Assist, Circle to Search, Browsing Assist, and Transcript Assist with this update.
It is worth noting that many of these AI features require an internet connection and a signed-in Samsung account for optimal performance. Some features may also require additional downloads beyond the initial software update; for instance – Live Translate may require language packs that can be downloaded from your phone’s Settings > General Management > Language > Language Packs section.
Stay tuned for more updates as these exciting new features continue to roll out globally!
