تحديث Google Pixel VPN المحسّن: لا يلزم وجود Android 14 QPR3

Google has released a new update for its Pixel VPN app on the Play Store. What’s interesting is that Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a, and Fold users can install this update without needing the Android 14 QPR3 update. This news is significant for Pixel 7 users as it introduces a replacement for the subscription-based Google One VPN service that will be discontinued on June 20.

The updated Pixel VPN, which was first introduced with the Pixel 8 series last year, offers a smoother integration compared to its predecessor. It eliminates the persistent notification icon in the status bar and now only shows a discreet key icon on the right side of the status bar when the VPN is active.

In addition to these changes, there is also a rebranding effort with the app and service being renamed from “VPN by Google One” to “VPN by Google.” The app now features a new blue shield icon with a “G” at its center that appears in various locations within the app and system settings.

Key points about the latest Pixel VPN update:

– Version number: 1.0.635841321
– Currently rolling out to Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and 8a devices
– Pixel 7 users running Android 14 QPR2 can install it directly from the Play Store listing
– Users need to manually set up notifications and mobile network usage after installation

While this update enhances privacy and security for Google Pixel users, it does have some limitations:

– Users cannot select specific server locations
– Lacks advanced features like kill switch, split tunneling, or torrenting support

Despite these limitations, this update is sure to be well-received by Pixel users, especially those on the Pixel 7 series who will still have access to a reliable VPN service even after Google One VPN is discontinued.
