In 2021, Apple introduced the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max with a remarkable 120Hz refresh rate, setting them apart from the standard 60Hz rate on non-Pro models. This ProMotion display technology was first seen on the second-generation 10.5-inch iPad Pro before making its way to iPhones.
Now, according to a post by renowned leaker Ice Universe on Weibo, Apple plans to bring this high refresh rate feature to all four models of the iPhone 17 series in 2025, including the “Slim” variant. These upcoming models will also incorporate Low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) technology, allowing for dynamic refresh rates based on content type to optimize battery life.
Benefits of a high refresh rate include smoother scrolling and reduced eye strain and fatigue by minimizing display flicker. Ice Universe’s leak revealed some key specs for the iPhone 17 series:
– iPhone 17 and iPhone Slim: Both with a 6.27-inch display
– iPhone Slim: Featuring a slightly larger 6.65-inch screen
– iPhone Pro Max: Equipped with a spacious 6.86-inch display
– A19 AP for non-Pro models and A19 Pro for Pro models manufactured by TSMC using advanced N3P process node
Other notable specs include RAM capacity – iPhone 17 and Slim with 8GB, while Pro models will have 12GB. Camera setups vary with dual cameras on non-Pro models and three impressive 48MP sensors on Pro models.
As for pricing, the leak suggests that the iPhone 17 will start at $799, while the Pro model will be priced from $1,099 upwards. The top-tier iPhone Pro Max will maintain its starting price of $1,199, while the premium Slim model is expected to cost $1,299 due to its unique aesthetics.
Apple is anticipated to stick to its tradition of releasing new iPhones in September next year based on this leak. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting lineup!
