For those who may not be familiar, the Starfy series is a delightful platformer featuring an adorable little star named Starfy. Developed by Tose, these games first made their debut in 2002 on Game Boy Advance. Players will join Starfy as he runs, jumps, and battles enemies and bosses across various stages.
Tose, the Japanese developer behind the series, has an impressive track record of over 1,000 games since its establishment in 1979. The sequels Densetsu no Starfy 2 and Densetsu no Starfy 3 were released in 2003 and 2004 respectively, although they never made their way to Western markets. In North America, The Legendary Starfy was the only game from the series to launch in 2008 on Nintendo DS.
While the Starfy series has been dormant since 2008, Tose has continued to make waves as a co-developer for popular titles like Dragon Quest and Splatoon 2. They have also contributed to recent hits such as WarioWare: Get It Together! and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion.
In a recent update this month, Nintendo introduced seven classic NES games to Nintendo Switch Online. Now with the addition of Densetsu no Starfy, Densetsu no Starfy 2, and Densetsu no Starfy 3 in July 2024, this month marks one of the biggest for the service yet.
A yearly subscription for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack is available for $63.99 in Canada. For those looking to share with family and friends, a Family Membership for up to eight accounts is also offered at $99.99.
Subscribers can access a variety of Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, NES, and SNES titles through Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Additionally, premium DLC like the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass is included with the subscription.
