Samsung struggled with smartphone sales in 2023, selling 230 million phones worldwide, as, for the first time, Apple dominated the market for the entire year. The Galaxy S23 series was a point of contention as, despite its success in comparison to other Android phones, it failed to make it into the top-selling smartphone models for Q2 2023. Now, Samsung is hoping for a better performance with the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra. Early indicators are already encouraging, especially with pre-orders in South Korea reaching 1.21 million units in just seven days, surpassing last year’s S23 pre-orders.
In India, the S24 Ultra trio is also showing promise with 250,000 pre-orders in just three days, outpacing the S23 series in three weeks. Though it’s too early to predict the long-term popularity and success of the S24 series, these promising starts are good signs for Samsung, and give the tech giant hope for improved sales and profitability in the mobile division.
