This compact phone follows the design language of its bigger sibling, the Xperia 1 V, and maintains Sony’s signature 21:9 aspect ratio. The Xperia 5 V also introduces some interesting camera technology to the compact Xperia 5 lineup. Starting from late September, users will have the opportunity to experience the latest Exmor T camera sensor and a comprehensive creator experience, all for a price of around 999 euros.

Sony has always been known for its unique design choices, and the Xperia 5 V stays true to this philosophy. While many smartphones look similar these days, Sony continues to stand out. With the Xperia 5 V, the camera bump has been downsized to accommodate only two lenses. The main camera sensor takes on telephoto duties by utilizing 2x crops, thanks to its high pixel count. The phone maintains Sony’s iconic 21:9 aspect ratio, features a matte Gorilla Glass Victus back, a rectangular frame, and symmetrical bezels at the top and bottom. Additionally, it still includes a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card slot.

One of the notable improvements in the Xperia 5 V is the main camera sensor. Sony has integrated the new Exmor T sensor into this compact phone, offering a dual-layer transistor pixel sensor with 48MP. This new sensor design aims to reduce noise and produce better images, particularly in low-light conditions. Complementing the hardware, Sony’s pro-grade creator software enables users to unleash their creativity while incorporating tricks inspired by Sony’s acclaimed Alpha camera division. Furthermore, a new Video Creator app has been introduced to assist users in easily creating compelling short videos directly on their phones.

Here are the key hardware specifications of the Sony Xperia 5 V:

– Dimensions: 154 x 68 x 8.6mm, weighing 183g
– Display: 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED with 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus 2
– Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
– Memory and storage: 8GB RAM, 128GB ROM, and microSDXC support (up to 1TB)
– Camera: Ultra-wide 12MP, Wide 52MP (48MP effective) with Exmor T AF OIS, Front 12MP
– Battery: 5,000mAh with 30W fast charging, wireless charging, and reverse power-sharing
– Colors: Black, Platinum Silver, Blue
– Other features: IP65/68 rating, 3.5mm audio jack, Eye AF/object tracking in video
– Price: Starting at €999 with availability from late September

The Xperia 5 V will be launching in late September with a price tag of approximately €999/£849.
