Google Releases February Pixel Android 14 Update with Functional and Security Patches<\/p>\n
It\u2019s that time of the month again! Google is rolling out the February functional and security patches for eligible Pixel devices, including the Pixel 5a (5G) through the Pixel 8 Pro, as well as the Pixel Tablet and the Pixel Fold.<\/p>\n
How to Update Your Phone:
\nTo get the update, simply go to Settings > System > Software updates > System update on your device and follow the directions to download the February update.<\/p>\n
What\u2019s Included in the Update:
\nThe February update brings both functional improvements and important security patches to your Pixel device. Here\u2019s a breakdown of what you can expect:<\/p>\n
Functional Improvements:
\n\u2013 Camera: General improvements for system stability and performance in certain conditions on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
\n\u2013 Display & Graphics: Fix for display getting corrupted in certain conditions on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, as well as a fix for issue with outer display in certain conditions on the Pixel Fold.
\n\u2013 Framework & Wi-Fi: General improvements for Wi-Fi stability and performance in certain conditions on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.<\/p>\n
Security Patches:
\nThe security update includes patches for a total of 46 security issues, ranging from high to critical severity. For example, one vulnerability (CVE-2024-22012) discovered in the bootloader on Pixel devices was given a severity ranking of \u201cHigh,\u201d allowing an attacker to authenticate as another user through a problem in the password verification method.<\/p>\n
Stay Updated:
\nGoogle has been consistent with its monthly software updates since the beginning of 2024, releasing them on the first Monday of each new month. If this trend continues, we can expect the next update to be released on Monday, March 4th.<\/p>\n
