Vicky Eatrides, Chairperson and CEO of the CRTC, emphasized the importance of high-quality communication services in people\u2019s daily lives. She stated, \u201cToday, we are taking action to help improve cellphone services for communities and travelers along Highway 37 in northern B.C.\u201d The project has received support from the Chiefs of the Tahltan Band Council and the Iskut Band Council, recognizing the significant impact improved cell service will have on regional economic activities and overall community well-being.<\/p>\n
The CRTC Broadband Fund, established in 2019, has been instrumental in expanding high-speed internet access to underserved rural areas. With over $300 million committed to date for internet and cellphone service enhancements in more than 230 communities, the fund continues to make a positive difference in bridging digital divides across Canada.<\/p>\n
