According to PiunikaWeb, collaborating with AssembleDebug, Gmail for Android could be in for a smart upgrade that will provide users with concise summaries of lengthy emails using AI technology. In the latest version 2024.03.31.621006929 of the Gmail app, a new button called \u201cSummarize this email\u201d has been spotted.<\/p>\n
While Google already offers email summaries for users of its Gemini for Workspace suite on the web version of Gmail, it\u2019s now making its way to the Android app as well. This feature will be particularly useful for smartphone users dealing with long emails or those containing a wealth of information.<\/p>\n
The new \u201cSummarize this email\u201d button appears to be available for all users, not just those using the Workspace suite. Positioned under the subject line in the mobile app, tapping on it currently doesn\u2019t trigger any action as the feature is still in its testing phase. It\u2019s anticipated that clicking on the button will bring up a pop-up window at the bottom of the screen with a summarized version of the email presented in bullet points.<\/p>\n
In addition to this new button, a Gemini entry has been noticed in the three-dots menu on the top bar by tipsters. Although it currently doesn\u2019t serve any function besides opening up a blank sheet with the Gemini logo and some text.<\/p>\n
Gemini is Google\u2019s Large Language Model (LLM), trained on vast amounts of publicly available data to generate human-like text responses to various questions.
