Additionally, Apple also put an end to its in-house microLED display project last month. The company had hoped to use these advanced displays on future Apple Ultra Watch models and eventually on iPhones. MicroLED displays offer brighter and more accurate colors, are energy efficient, and eliminate the risk of screen burn-in commonly associated with OLED panels.
Despite discontinuing these projects, Apple remains committed to incorporating microLED displays into its devices. While the company will no longer produce them in-house, it is likely to seek out suppliers for these cutting-edge displays. In fact, Apple acquired microLED company LuxVue back in 2014 as part of its long-term strategy to integrate these displays into its products.
This shift in focus represents Apple’s dedication to innovation and delivering high-quality products to consumers. While it’s always disappointing when projects don’t come to fruition, it’s all part of the process of pushing boundaries and exploring new technologies in the ever-evolving tech industry.
