Xiaomi applique une politique de mise à jour supérieure à Google Now

Android phones have been improving in terms of software support, and now Xiaomi is joining the likes of Samsung and OnePlus in promising longer software support. According to a post on Weibo, the Redmi K60 Extreme Edition will receive four operating system updates and five years of security support. This commitment currently applies only to this particular device, but other Xiaomi devices typically receive three Android OS updates and five years of security updates.

While it is unclear if the new update policy will also apply to the global variant of the Xiaomi 13T Pro, this is still a positive step forward. It could further enhance the appeal of Xiaomi phones as one of the best budget handsets available.

Xiaomi has not provided any information regarding the frequency of updates. However, it is worth noting that Xiaomi is not known for delivering updates quickly.

On the other hand, Google’s update policy for its Pixel phones has not been updated in a while. It currently offers three Android version updates and five years of software support. This might seem insufficient for a company that is responsible for Android. However, Google is aware of this and may soon surpass other Android manufacturers by offering more frequent updates, potentially on par with Apple’s update policy.
