Nothing, the company owned by a OnePlus co-founder, is generating excitement for its upcoming phone in unique ways. They have been debunking rumors on Twitter and revealing details to tech publications ahead of the official March 5 announcement.

The Nothing Phone (2a) was previously expected to feature a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor but has now been confirmed to opt for the Dimensity 7200 Pro. This processor was co-engineered by MediaTek and Nothing specifically for the (upper) mid-range 2a, making it the first device to use this chipset. According to Carl Pei, this decision was made to find the best balance between power efficiency and speed.

The production costs likely played a role in this decision as well, with expectations for the Nothing Phone (2a) to be priced lower than its higher-end predecessors. Carl Pei claims that the Phone 2a is a clear upgrade from Phone 1, providing more raw power and improved battery consumption.

The target audience for the Nothing Phone (2a) is composed of people less concerned about the latest specs and more focused on core functionalities matched with great performance and Nothing’s signature design both inside and out. The phone is expected to pack up to 12GB RAM.
