Google has recently rolled out a new set of features for Android users, and one standout addition is the Instant Hotspot feature. This new feature aims to simplify the connection process between your Android devices, making it easier to stay connected while on the go.
Imagine you’re out and about with your Android tablet or Chromebook and need an internet connection. Previously, you’d have to go through the hassle of activating the hotspot on your phone, finding it on your other device, and entering a password. With Instant Hotspot, this process is streamlined – simply tap to connect your tablet or Chromebook to your phone’s hotspot without the need for passwords or complicated setup.
This seamless device interaction is reminiscent of Apple’s Continuity features, known for their user-friendly experience. It’s great to see Android incorporating similar functionality, enhancing user experience with smoother connectivity.
However, as noted by Mishaal Rahman on Android Authority, Instant Hotspot does not currently support Samsung devices. While Samsung offers its own Auto Hotspot feature for seamless connectivity within its ecosystem, this new feature would have extended that convenience to other Android devices as well.
It’s unclear why Samsung devices are excluded from this feature, but it may be a strategic decision to promote loyalty within the Samsung ecosystem. Regardless, Samsung users can still benefit from Instant Tethering with Chromebooks and Link to Windows with PCs.
For other Android users running Android 11 or newer, Instant Hotspot is a welcome addition. This small yet impactful change can greatly improve how we use our devices on the go. It reflects Google’s ongoing efforts to enhance the Android ecosystem and marks a positive step forward in user convenience and connectivity.
