Samsung is getting ready to launch its new foldable phones, and the rumors are pouring in like a heavy downpour. Earlier reports suggested that the book-style foldable would come with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset for the US market. However, there was some uncertainty about the situation in Europe – until now.
Geekbench scores have revealed that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will indeed be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in Europe. A test result from a European unit with model number SM-F956B shows that it is still running on the Snapdragon chipset, with 12GB of RAM as the base capacity. It remains unclear if there will be more RAM options available, such as a 16GB model.
This news is great for European users, especially considering rumors of a price increase in the region. In addition to improved performance, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to see a slight increase in battery capacity of around 200mAh, bringing its total battery size to 4,600mAh (actually two batteries working together).
While charging speeds are likely to remain unchanged at 25W, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to come with Android 14 (OneUI 6.0) out of the box and should soon receive an update to Android 15 (and OneUI 7.0).
Design-wise, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is anticipated to be thinner and lighter than its predecessor, the Z Fold 5. Early leaks have hinted at a different aspect ratio for the external screen, which has been further supported by recent photos of what appears to be the Fold 6.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and its clamshell sibling, the Galaxy Z Flip 6, are set to debut sometime in July. Whether it will be at the beginning or end of the month remains uncertain, so stay tuned for updates on this exciting release from Samsung!
