Apple commence à distribuer la part des utilisateurs d'iPhone dans le cadre du règlement « Batterygate » de $500 millions

The entire “Batterygate” situation began when affected iPhone units with weak batteries were unable to supply enough power to the processor to handle certain tasks, causing the phones to crash. After installing iOS 10.2.1, iPhone users began to notice slower performance on their devices. Apple eventually acknowledged the issue and apologized, reducing the price of battery replacements on select iPhone models by up to 63% to $29. Additionally, Apple introduced the Battery Health & Charging page, which displays the current capacity of the iPhone battery compared to when it was new.

Apple is now sending payments to those impacted by the Batterygate throttling. Each successful claimant is receiving $92.17, and some iPhone users with multiple claims will receive close to $1,000 from the company. Apple agreed to a $500 million settlement, although only $310 million is being distributed to consumers. The deadline for filing a claim with the court was October 6, 2020, and claims could be filed for each covered iPhone model owned by the claimant, including the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPhone SE.
