Processus d'installation controversé d'Apple : Tim Sweeney qualifie le processus en 15 étapes de "pire" - Explorez les modèles sombres

In the ever-evolving world of technology, changes are always on the horizon. Recent developments include Huawei’s determination to produce 5G chips despite US sanctions and TikTok facing a potential ban in the USA. Apple, on the other hand, is adapting its operations in response to the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA).

With the introduction of a new Web Distribution feature this spring, Apple is enabling developers to offer their apps for direct download from their websites in the EU. This means that iOS users in the region will have the option to download apps without relying solely on the traditional App Store.

However, downloading and installing apps on an iPhone in Europe now involves a more intricate process, as pointed out by Tim Sweeney from Epic Games. He criticized Apple for what he called “the worst app installation experience in the history of computing.” According to Sweeney, Apple’s new flow for downloading apps outside of the App Store requires a whopping 15 steps.

The process outlined by a Twitter user involves various warnings, Face ID verifications, and navigating between browser screens before finally launching the downloaded app. This convoluted procedure has drawn criticism for resembling Dark Patterns – user interface practices intentionally designed to confuse or hinder users from completing tasks.

Despite Tim Sweeney’s strong objections to Apple’s new approach, some users have expressed appreciation for its complexity, especially citing benefits for elderly iPhone users who may need additional guidance during app installations.

As this debate continues to unfold, it raises questions about user experience design and compliance with regulatory frameworks like the DMA. While some may find comfort in familiar processes, others advocate for simplicity and transparency in app installations across all platforms. The evolving landscape of digital technology ensures that these discussions will persist as companies strive to balance innovation with user-friendly practices.
