Spotify has just unveiled its latest addition to the family – Spotify Mix, a new custom typeface designed specifically for the platform. This unique font will soon make its debut in all in-app and desktop experiences, replacing the current one.
Here are some key points about Spotify Mix:
– A bespoke variable font exclusively created for Spotify
– Combines elements from different font styles to capture the essence of evolving audio culture
– A sans-serif typeface blending classic and contemporary design features
– Incorporates sharp angles and smooth curves for a distinct look
– Includes shapes inspired by sound waves for a rhythmic feel
Rasmus Wängelin, Global Head of Brand Design at Spotify, collaborated with Berlin-based foundry Dinamo Typefaces to bring Spotify Mix to life. The goal was to break free from traditional typographic constraints and develop a typeface that reflects the vibrancy of Spotify’s community.
This new typeface will be integrated across various aspects of the platform, from playlists to marketing campaigns, enhancing the overall user experience. Look out for Spotify Mix in upcoming marketing efforts and events like the Spotify Beach at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity starting on June 17.
Users can expect to see Spotify Mix gradually integrated into their Spotify experience starting today, with a full rollout planned over the next few weeks.
Stay tuned for more updates as we embrace this fresh new look with Spotify Mix!
