Exciting News: Transfer Google Photos to Apple iCloud with New Tool Coming Soon!

Google Photos users can now easily transfer all their media content directly to Apple’s iCloud Photos thanks to the new transfer tool provided by the Data Transfer Project (DTP) stack of the Data Transfer Initiative (DTI). This tool will be available starting next week, allowing users to seamlessly import their entire picture, album, and video collection when switching to a new device. Here’s how you can transfer your Google Photos collection to iCloud Photos:

– Go to Google Takeout and select the albums you want to export.
– Choose Apple – iCloud Photos as the import service and sign in with your Apple ID.
– Grant permission for Google to add photos and videos to iCloud.

Alternatively, you can access your Google Account Dashboard, select Photos under Recently used Google services or Other Google services, and click on the Transfer data button.

After transferring your photos and videos, they will appear in the Photos app under a dedicated album named Import from Google along with the date of transfer. If any content is missing metadata, check your iCloud Drive storage system for a folder with the same name.

The open-source Data Transfer Project technology stack, supported by Apple, Google, and Meta, enables billions of users to use tools like direct transfers from Google Photos to iCloud Photos. Stay tuned for more updates on seamless data transfers between different platforms!
