Apple recently announced its new personal intelligence system, “Apple Intelligence,” which will bring a range of AI features to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia this fall. However, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, some of these features won’t be fully rolled out until 2025.
Key points from Gurman’s report include:
– The rollout of Apple Intelligence will be staggered, with some features not ready for prime time upon launch.
– Users may need to join waitlists to access certain AI tools.
– Initial support will be limited to American English and a subset of Apple devices.
– The delay is intended to allow for thorough testing and optimization of the new AI functionalities.
While iOS 18 will still debut with an improved Siri interface and enhanced conversational abilities, more advanced AI features may be delayed. These include improvements like semantic indexing for better context understanding and on-screen awareness for precise device control.
In addition to Siri enhancements, other potential delays could affect AI upgrades for the Mail app, Swift Assist programming tool, Home app improvements, file dragging between devices tool, spatial video editing in Final Cut Pro, and ChatGPT integration.
Looking ahead, Apple plans to expand language support and regional availability for Apple Intelligence in the coming year. Initially launching in American English, the service will require an iPhone 15 Pro series or newer, or an iPad/Mac with an M1 chip or newer.
By spacing out the release of Apple Intelligence features over time, Apple aims to ensure a smooth user experience while reducing strain on its infrastructure. Stay tuned for updates as these innovative AI capabilities gradually become available!
