Is Apple Planning a Foldable iPad?
According to a recent report from South Korea, Apple’s first foldable device is expected to rival the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and would be marketed as a foldable iPad rather than an “iPhone Fold”. The foldable iPad is rumored to be in the “late 7-inch to early 8-inch range”, which could lead to the possible discontinuation of the traditional iPad mini.
The potential shift in Apple’s product line raises concerns about pricing and competition with other Apple products, such as the iPad mini and iPhone Pro Max. There are also speculations whether the new foldable device will even be marketed as an iPad, or if Apple has other plans for it.
Other Foldable Products in the Works
It is also rumored that Apple is working on a second, even larger, foldable product. This product is said to be around 20 inches, indicating a departure from the more common foldable phone design, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip. Whether this larger foldable device will come to fruition before the foldable iPad is also not clear.
It is speculated that Apple will rely on Samsung to supply the foldable iPad with the necessary displays, possibly showing that Apple has yet to master the technology itself. In addition to the foldable iPad, The Elec report also claims that there will be significant changes to the iPhone in 2027, although this information lacks any further details at this time.
