Apple is gearing up to equip all of its new iPhone 16 models with the same powerful A-series chip, according to a recent report. This marks a return to the standard practice after the company opted to use different chips for the standard and Pro models in recent years.
Developer Nicolás Alvarez analyzed code revealing five new iPhones with identifiers starting with “iPhone17,” indicating that all four iPhone 16 models will feature the same chip. This consistency across models suggests a unified approach compared to previous years.
In the past, Apple differentiated between Pro and non-Pro models by using different identifiers for their respective chips. However, with the upcoming iPhone 16 series, all devices are expected to share the same powerful chip for enhanced performance and efficiency.
The current iPhone lineup features the A17 Pro chip in the Pro models and the A16 Bionic chip in the standard versions. Moving forward, it’s likely that all iPhone 16 models will benefit from TSMC’s N3E process for improved performance.
While there may be minor variations between the standard and Pro model chips, such as potential differences in GPU capabilities, overall functionality and speed are expected to be consistent across all devices. This shift aligns with Apple’s focus on ensuring seamless performance of Apple Intelligence features on its latest smartphones.
