Raisons pour lesquelles la fuite de l’A17 Pro déçoit par rapport à nos grands espoirs pour la puce iPhone 15 Pro

After extensive leaks and rumors, Phones Canada is excited to announce the official unveiling of the iPhone 15 Pro, featuring the highly anticipated A17 Pro chip. One of the key highlights of this new chip is its 3nm manufacturing process, making it the most advanced iPhone chip to date. It’s important to note that the A17 Pro seems to be an incremental improvement over its predecessor, the A16 Bionic, in terms of performance.

According to reliable leaker Revegnus, the codename for the A17 Pro suggests that it is essentially an enhanced version of the A16 Bionic. The previous chips were codenamed H14 and H15 for the A15 Bionic and A16 Bionic, respectively. Based on this naming convention, one would expect the A17 Pro to be called H16. However, the codename for the A17 Pro is H15 Coll.

While the A17 Pro may share similarities with the A16 Bionic architecturally, there have been some notable improvements. These enhancements primarily focus on cache optimization, clock upgrades, and GPU changes. It’s worth mentioning that TSMC’s 3nm technology offers approximately 15% better performance or 35% improved power efficiency compared to the previous 4nm process used in the A16 Bionic.

During the official announcement, Apple claimed that the A17 Pro is 10% faster than its predecessor, the A16 Bionic. However, no specific mention was made regarding efficiency improvements. This suggests that the efficiency gains may not be significant. Leaked Geekbench results indicate that the A17 Pro performs approximately 16% better in single-core performance and 13% better in multi-core performance than the A16 Pro.

Despite the alleged simplistic codename, it’s important to note that Apple’s efforts were likely concentrated on fine-tuning an already impressive chip. The A16 Bionic set a high standard in terms of speed and performance. Furthermore, it’s essential to highlight that the A17 Pro still outperforms flagship Android chips. Additionally, the iPhone 15 Pro boasts more RAM than its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Pro.

The A17 Pro’s GPU features six cores, one more than the A16 Bionic, resulting in a 20% improvement in graphics performance. Furthermore, Apple claims that the GPU is also more energy efficient. Notably, the A17 Pro’s GPU includes hardware-accelerated ray tracing capabilities.

Lastly, the A17 Pro’s Neural Engine is twice as fast as its predecessor, resulting in enhanced machine learning performance. It also boasts an impressive 19 billion transistors, three billion more than its predecessor, the A16 Bionic.

In summary, while the A17 Pro may not represent a groundbreaking shift in chip architecture, it still offers substantial improvements in performance, GPU capabilities, and machine learning capabilities. Its 3nm manufacturing process and efficient power usage make it a noteworthy addition to the innovative iPhone 15 Pro.
