Deux randonneurs coincés près de la montée des eaux sauvés par le SOS d'urgence d'Apple via satellite

Apple’s Emergency SOS via Satellite feature proved its worth once again by saving the lives of two hikers in New Zealand’s Arthur’s Pass National Park. The hikers found themselves trapped on a riverbank as water levels rose to dangerous levels, leaving them unable to move. Fortunately, they had an iPhone 14 with the SOS feature, which connected via satellite and alerted the authorities. The Canterbury West Air Rescue Service, which responded to the incident, highlighted the importance of this technology and recommended Personal Locator Beacons as an additional safety measure. Apple is expected to include this feature in the upcoming iPhone 15 series, allowing users to text for help using a satellite connection in areas without cellular service. The device will guide users on how to initiate a satellite connection by moving the phone. This feature also enables users to notify their emergency contacts and share their current location. It’s worth noting that Huawei’s Mate 60 Pro and Mate Pro 60+ also offer satellite connectivity capabilities.
