Lately, we’ve seen plenty of rumors about the upcoming Galaxy S24 series, set to be unveiled in a week. These leaks suggest that both the Galaxy S24 and S24+ will come with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be sporting a 144Hz display. What’s more, all three models will have Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO) displays, allowing for a minimum refresh rate of 1Hz to save battery life when the content on the screen is static.

This is a significant upgrade from the Galaxy S23 series, where the minimum refresh rate was 24Hz, resulting in higher power consumption even with static content. With LTPO displays on all models, the batteries for the Galaxy S24 (4000mAh) and S24+ (4900mAh) are expected to have better endurance compared to last year’s models.

Furthermore, leaker Ice Universe tweeted that the touch response speed of the Galaxy S24 series has increased by more than 10%, which could mean smoother and faster user interaction. This is due to the higher touch sampling rate, which determines how many times per second the screen checks for touch input. The Galaxy S23 series had a touch sampling rate of 240Hz, while the Galaxy S24 series is expected to have an improved rate, making the display more responsive, particularly for gaming.

The Galaxy S24 line is scheduled to be introduced on January 17th at 10 am PST/1 pm EST, with pre-orders anticipated to start on the same day. It seems that Samsung is aiming to make substantial improvements to the display and user experience with its upcoming flagship series.
