Apple Promotes Its Own Apps in New Website<\/p>\n
In an effort to showcase its own apps, Apple has launched a website called \u201cApps by Apple\u201d that highlights the apps developed by Apple for its various products including the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and Apple TV. This move comes as iPhone users in the 27 European Union (EU) countries gain the ability to sideload apps due to the EU\u2019s Digital Markets Act (DMA).<\/p>\n
Sideload apps refer to the installation of apps from third-party app stores. Apple has always maintained that its ban on sideloading was put in place to ensure the security of its devices and prevent the installation of apps containing malware. However, some countries view this ban as a means for Apple to force app developers to use its own App Store payment platform, which allows Apple to take a 15% to 30% cut from in-app transactions and subscriptions.<\/p>\n
By highlighting its own apps, Apple aims to keep them top of mind for users who may consider opting for similar third-party apps from other app stores. Apple\u2019s apps are grouped into six main categories:<\/p>\n
1. Communication: \u201cApps to keep you connected,\u201d such as Phone, Messages, FaceTime, Mail, and Contacts.
\n2. Creativity: \u201cTools for pros and passionate creatives,\u201d including Photos, Camera, GarageBand, iMovie, and Final Cut Pro for iPad.
\n3. Productivity: \u201cAll you need to make your work of art,\u201d featuring Notes, Reminders, Calendar, Freeform, and Pages.
\n4. Exploration: \u201cDiscover the world and navigate it with ease,\u201d comprising Safari, Maps, Weather, Find My, and Wallet.
\n5. Entertainment and Home: \u201cBrilliant ways to watch, read, listen, and relax,\u201d showcasing Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Apple Music Classical, and Podcasts.
\n6. Health and Fitness: \u201cWellness for your mind and body,\u201d offering Apple Health, Fitness, Workout, Sleep, and Cycle Tracking.<\/p>\n
Other notable features include Siri, iCloud, CarPlay, Continuity, and Family Sharing. Apple emphasizes that its apps come with robust privacy features to safeguard user data and provide users with control over their information. Accessibility features are also integrated into every Apple product and app, making them accessible to all users.<\/p>\n
In addition, Apple affirms that the App Store hosts millions of apps that adhere to Apple\u2019s standards for privacy, security, and content.
