Rogers now supports Apple\u2019s \u2018Convert to eSIM\u2019 feature directly from your iPhone, making it easier than ever to switch to an eSIM. This change was spotted in the latest iOS 18 beta 4 by a keen-eyed iPhone in Canada reader named Ahsan. Here\u2019s how you can make the switch:<\/p>\n
\u2013 Go to Settings > Cellular on your iPhone.
\n\u2013 Look for the new option \u2018Convert to eSIM\u2019.
\n\u2013 Tap on \u2018Convert to eSIM\u2019, then select \u2018Convert Cellular Plan\u2019 and follow the prompts to activate your eSIM.
\n\u2013 Your previous SIM card will be deactivated during this process.
\n\u2013 Once activated, remove the physical SIM card and restart your iPhone.<\/p>\n
This feature allows you to free up your physical SIM card slot, which can be incredibly useful when traveling outside of Canada and wanting to use a local SIM card. While Rogers and Fido already allowed customers to switch from physical SIM cards to eSIM online last fall, they did not support eSIM Carrier Activation like some other carriers.<\/p>\n
In March 2023, Telus added support for Convert to eSIM, followed by Bell in July. Now, Rogers has joined the ranks of its competitors by offering Convert to eSIM with the release of iOS 18. If you don\u2019t see the option on your device, it means your carrier does not yet support eSIM conversion.<\/p>\n
