Apple has been teasing the next generation of CarPlay for a while now, promising a seamless integration between the iPhone and cars. The latest announcement comes from two luxury car brands – Porsche and Aston Martin. They have confirmed that they will support the next-generation CarPlay, offering a great experience for iPhone users.
According to Apple, the next generation of CarPlay will provide content for all the driver’s screens, including the instrument cluster, ensuring a cohesive design experience that combines the best features of the car and the iPhone. Users will also have the option to control vehicle functions like radio and temperature right from CarPlay, as well as personalize their experience with widgets and curated gauge cluster designs.
Porsche’s vice president of style, Michael Mauer, stated, “We recently brought the My Porsche app to CarPlay to provide drivers with even easier access to car functionality, and in the future, we will be adding support for the next generation of CarPlay to Porsche models. We look forward to delivering an experience that adds the personal touch of a driver’s iPhone to the exclusivity of a Porsche.”
While there are no specific details on which Porsche and Aston Martin models will receive the next-gen CarPlay support, both companies have confirmed their commitment to including it in their future vehicles. Interestingly, Aston Martin wasn’t initially on Apple’s list of automakers that would support next-generation CarPlay, which already included Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Lincoln, Audi, Volvo, Honda, Nissan, Ford, Jaguar, Acura, Polestar, Infiniti, and Renault.
It’s clear that the next generation of CarPlay will bring an enhanced iPhone experience to luxury car owners, and we can expect to see more announcements from other automakers in the near future.
