Incorrect Narrative: Tipster Debunks Misconceptions Surrounding Cancellation of Exynos 2300

According to a tipster named Revegnus, the Exynos 2300 SoC from Samsung was never mass-produced or used in any device. The cancellation of this chipset led to a false narrative suggesting that it couldn’t compete with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. However, Revegnus claims that the Exynos 2300’s performance was on par with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

There are differing opinions on this matter. Benchmark tests showed that the Exynos 2100, a comparable chipset to the Snapdragon 888, initially outperformed the Snapdragon 888 until the latter’s superior GPU came into play. This suggests that the Exynos 2300 could have potentially surpassed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 if GPU performance was not considered.

There is speculation as to why Samsung decided to cancel the Exynos 2300. Some believe it was due to performance concerns in comparison to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Others argue that Samsung would not have discontinued a premium Exynos brand without a valid reason.

The cancellation of the Exynos 2300 leaves uncertainty regarding its competitiveness against the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 since it was never mass-produced. However, Samsung is now working on the Exynos 2400, which is rumored to feature a deca-core configuration and an Xclipse 940 GPU based on AMD’s RDNA2 architecture.

It is expected that the Exynos 2400 will be used to power certain models of the Galaxy S24 in specific markets. This potential cost-saving measure could contribute to an increase in RAM for the 2024 flagship models. One tipster suggests that the base model of the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ could have 12GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra might offer up to 16GB of RAM, potentially paired with larger storage variants.

In conclusion, the cancellation of the Exynos 2300 has generated discussions about its performance compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. However, the upcoming Exynos 2400 holds promise, and it is likely to power certain Galaxy S24 models in specific markets. The increased RAM in these models could be a notable upgrade for users.
