Earlier this month it was announced that a new OnePlus Watch 2 (model number OPWWE231) has been certified by India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). This suggests that the sequel to the company’s first smartwatch will be revealed soon, possibly in early 2024 around the same time as the OnePlus 12 handset.
MySmartPrice collaborated with @OnLeaks to release renders of the OnePlus Watch 2. The smartwatch is expected to feature a 1.43-inch AMOLED display, which is a slight increase from the original model’s 1.39-inch screen. It will also be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset, also used in the Pixel Watch 2. Additionally, both the Pixel Watch 2 and OnePlus Watch 2 will run on Wear OS 4.
Although only a few specs have been leaked, it’s important to note that the original OnePlus Watch came with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of storage, running its own proprietary operating system. The transition to Wear OS 4 in the sequel is significant as it adds more app capabilities and reduces reliance on OnePlus updates, enhancing the user experience. The price of the first-gen OnePlus Watch was $159.
The renders of the OnePlus Watch 2 show a similar circular dial design, with the addition of a bump on the right side housing two buttons. This differs from the OG unit, which had two buttons on the right side of the dial.
MySmartPrice mentions that the renders are based on “actual images of a prototype in the testing phase,” meaning the final version of the device may differ from the renders.
