OnePlus 12 sighted in natural habitat, validating superior display specifications over Pixel 8

Today we saw some hands-on photos of the brand new OnePlus 12, set to be released in China on December 5. The leaked images only display the front of the phone and also include some details about the display specifications.

The OnePlus 12 will feature a 6.82-inch 8T LTPO OLED screen with a resolution of 1,440 x 3,168 and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It’s promised to have a peak brightness of 4,500 nits in auto mode, which surpasses other top phones of 2023. In manual mode, it can reach up to 1,722 nits, outshining even the Pixel 8 Pro, which has a 2,400 nits screen.

Additionally, DisplayMate, an industry standard for testing and comparing screens, has awarded the OnePlus 12 an A+ certification for its impressive brightness and color accuracy. It has an average Just Noticeable Color Difference (JNCD) value of 0.35. For reference, a JNCD value of less than 1 indicates that the colors look so similar that the human eye can’t distinguish a difference.

The screen also features Oppo’s P1 display chip and 2,160Hz PWM dimming for eye protection. The phone is expected to be released in international markets on January 24th.
