The Day Apple Music (and Other Services) Died: A Friday to Remember

Several Apple Services experienced outages on Friday according to the company’s System Status support page. The page shows that from 6:29 pm-7:42 pm EST, “Users may have been unable to make purchases in the iTunes Store, Mac App Store, and App Store.” The App Store outage has since been resolved.

In addition, Apple Cash is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance starting today at 1 am EST, and the System Status support page notes that “Some users may experience issues with this service.”

Apple Cash enables iPhone users to send or request cash via iMessage. To use this service, open the last chat you had with the person you want to send or receive money from, tap on Apple Cash, arrange the dollar amount, and tap on “Send.” However, due to the ongoing scheduled maintenance, users may encounter issues with this service.

The Apple System Status support page also reported outages for Apple Music, AppleCare on Device, and Apple’s subscription purchase feature, which have all been resolved. Users who experience issues with any Apple service can check the System Status support page for real-time updates and scheduled maintenance alerts.

Scheduled maintenance for Apple Pay & the Wallet app is expected on Sunday between 6:30 am-2:00 pm EST, with potential issues for some Georgia users during maintenance activities. Currently, all mentioned Apple Services have a green dot next to their names, indicating that they are available for use.
