Facebook is turning 20 in February 2024, and it’s a milestone worth noting. Despite its longevity, many users have shifted their online activity to other platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Discord. With Meta’s decision to revamp the Facebook feed, some users feel bombarded with irrelevant content from random groups and pages.
In fact, a recent survey found that three out of four American adults believe Facebook is “making society worse.” This sentiment may be contributing to the decline in active users on the platform. Additionally, teenagers are less likely to use Facebook compared to other popular platforms like TikTok and YouTube.
The shift in user demographics has led some experts to speculate that Facebook’s user base is aging faster than its product. This has raised concerns that one day there may be more profiles for deceased users than living ones on the platform.
Despite these challenges, Facebook still boasts over 3 billion monthly users. Are you among those who log in but rarely post? Or do you still actively engage on the platform? Let us know your thoughts!
