Get the Latest Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1 Update for Pixel 8 Series – Including the Missing “Circle to Search” Feature!

Google has just announced the release of Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1, following the recent launch of Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3 and a couple of patches. The new build, AP21.240119.009, is now available for eligible Pixel devices, including the Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel Fold, and the Pixel Tablet.

This update comes in at around 302 MB and addresses a specific issue with the “Circle to Search” feature not appearing on devices running the QPR beta. Google has clarified that this was an oversight and has now been corrected. However, it’s important to note that “Circle to Search” is still only available for the Pixel 8 series.

The changelog for Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1 lists the specific issue as #323331515 – Circle to search not appearing past release date. This issue has been resolved in this latest beta release.

If you’re eager to install the update immediately on your eligible device, you can do so by going to Settings > System > Software updates. The update will be automatically rolled out via OTA (over-the-air) within five days. To be part of the beta program and receive this update on your Pixel device, you can enroll at g.co/androidbeta.

For those who prefer to switch from the beta program and receive the official stable release of Android 14 QPR2 without wiping their device, they have that option available as well. By opting out at g.co/androidbeta and skipping today’s QPR3 Beta 1 update installation, users can avoid any data loss or device wipe.

It’s important to note that if you choose to install QPR3 Beta 1 first and then opt out of the program, your device will be wiped. In this case, it’s recommended to wait for the public release of Android 14 QPR2 instead.
