Google is set to launch a new addition to its Pixel lineup this fall, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, joining the anticipated Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro models. This new device brings back the XL branding that was last seen in Google’s premium handsets before the Pixel 6 series debuted in 2021.
The Pixel 9 will feature a sleek design with a flat frame and a rear camera bar housing two cameras. Initial renders released earlier this year by Onleaks and 91mobiles were believed to be showcasing the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro models. However, it has now been clarified that those renders actually depicted the Pixel 9 Pro and the upcoming Pixel 9 Pro XL, explaining why there was confusion regarding the number of rear cameras on the devices.
The latest render of the Pixel 9 reveals rounded corners, a flat display, and two lenses within the redesigned camera bar, contrary to earlier speculations of three lenses. The OLED display measures at 6.03 inches, with a notably thick rear camera bar as shown in the render video. According to OnLeaks, the dimensions of the Pixel 9 are expected to be around 152.8 x 71.9 x 8.5mm, expanding slightly to 12mm due to the camera bar.
One exciting feature expected in the Pixel 9 series is adaptive touch technology which adjusts touchscreen sensitivity based on environmental conditions. This innovation allows for seamless touchscreen interaction even when the screen is wet from rain or sweat. Additionally, all three models will support Qi2 wireless charging with speeds up to 15W wirelessly and will be powered by Google’s Tensor 4 application processor.
