Google has introduced a new feature called ‘Circle to Search’ on its Pixel Fold device, following its success on the Pixel 8 series and Samsung’s Galaxy S24 family.
Circle to Search allows users to discover more information about something within a picture, text, or video by simply long-pressing on the screen. Users can then circle or highlight a specific item, such as a piece of clothing in a photo or a dog in a video. Google then runs a search to provide details like where to purchase the highlighted clothing item or more information about the dog breed.
This innovative feature was initially launched earlier this year, debuting on the latest Pixel smartphones like the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. It leverages Google’s multisearch tools via Lens with generative AI enhancements for improved accuracy and functionality. The Circle to Search feature also made its way to the Galaxy S24 lineup.
Google has since expanded the availability of Circle to Search to the Pixel 6 series and newer Pixel phones. The latest addition is on Google’s Pixel Fold device, with plans for it to arrive on Pixel Tablets in the near future.
The Pixel Fold was released on June 28th, 2023, but is currently only available in select markets such as the U.S., Germany, Japan, and the U.K. Unfortunately, it is not officially available in Canada yet.
Stay tuned for updates on when Canadian users can experience this cutting-edge technology on their devices!
