Unlock YouTube’s Picture-in-Picture on iOS: No Premium Required! | Phones Canada

YouTube for iOS may soon be offering picture-in-picture (PiP) as a standard feature, rather than limiting it to Premium subscribers. PiP allows you to continue watching videos in a smaller window while using other apps on your device, making multitasking a breeze.

Currently, PiP is exclusive to Premium subscribers on iPhone and iPad, but some users have reported sporadic access to the feature without a subscription. This has led to speculation that YouTube may be testing PiP for select videos or granting temporary access to entice users to upgrade to Premium.

While PiP functionality may come and go for some users, it remains a convenient way to keep music videos or podcasts playing in the background while using other apps. Despite our attempts to replicate this feature without a Premium subscription, it eventually stopped working.

We would love to hear from you – have you experienced YouTube PiP on your iPhone or iPad without a Premium subscription? Share your thoughts and experiences with us!
