Exciting News: TIDAL Drops Support for MQA and 360 Reality Audio Formats!

Attention all TIDAL subscribers! Starting on July 24, 2024, there will be some changes to the audio formats supported by the music streaming service. Here’s what you need to know:

– TIDAL will no longer support MQA and 360 Reality Audio formats.
– The focus will now be exclusively on FLAC for stereo sound.
– Artists can provide their music in high-quality directly to TIDAL in the open-source FLAC format.
– Dolby Atmos has been chosen as the format for immersive sound moving forward.

What does this mean for you as a TIDAL user?

– If you have an MQA track or album in your Collections, it will be automatically replaced by the highest quality FLAC version.
– For offline access to MQA tracks, make sure to update your app to the latest version on July 24 to redownload them in FLAC format.
– While TIDAL aims to have a replacement for every MQA track with a 16-bit, 44.1 kbps FLAC version, there may be some exceptions. Rest assured, efforts are being made to replace all existing MQA tracks with FLAC versions.

For those with 360 Reality tracks or albums:

– These will appear grayed out and unavailable for streaming after the changes take effect.

TIDAL is committed to providing high-quality audio experiences and is working hard to ensure a seamless transition for its users. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to improve our services!
