Troubles with Google’s New VPN Service for Pixel Users: What You Need to Know

Google recently announced the discontinuation of its VPN by Google One service, replacing it with a new VPN by Google service tailored for Pixel users. However, this transition has encountered some hiccups, causing frustration among users and prompting them to seek alternative solutions.

Pixel owners have taken to Reddit to express their concerns about the new VPN service. Some users have reported facing error messages when attempting to activate the VPN, while others have noticed the absence of the VPN toggle in their device settings. This lack of functionality leaves them vulnerable to potential online threats when using public Wi-Fi networks.

The issue seems to be affecting primarily the Pixel 7 series, including the Pixel 7a, as well as the Pixel 8 range. It’s possible that some Pixel Fold owners are also experiencing similar problems.

According to reports from Android Authority, some Reddit users speculate that the inability to access the VPN by Google service could be linked to carriers not yet rolling out the June update. However, others have received the update but continue to encounter VPN issues. This inconsistency suggests a broader problem that may stem from a glitch in the VPN app or compatibility issues with certain Pixel devices or software versions.

It’s important to note that this issue seems confined to a subset of Pixel users, as many have successfully transitioned to the new VPN service without any problems. While Google has not addressed these reported issues yet, it is likely that they are working on a solution for those affected. In the meantime, users experiencing difficulties with the new VPN service may consider exploring alternative options or waiting for Google’s resolution in due time.
