Additional uncertainties persist regarding the name of Apple’s flagship iPhone 15 model

More Confusion Reigns Over What Apple Will Call its Top-of-the-Line iPhone 15 Model

Occasionally, rumors surface on X, formerly known as Twitter, that seem too incredible to be true. One such rumor involves the name of the upcoming top-of-the-line iPhone 15 model. It has been going back and forth between being called the iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Ultra, and once again, the iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, the latest buzz suggests that it may actually be called the iPhone 15 Ultra.

The reason for this name game can be traced back to Apple’s decision to name its premium smartwatch the Apple Watch Ultra. A tipster known as Majin Bu shared a photo of a case that purportedly belongs to the iPhone 15 Ultra. Supporters of the Ultra moniker argue that it would be a good way to differentiate the two Pro models, especially since the iPhone 15 Pro Max features an exclusive periscope lens. However, rumors suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro will have its own periscope lens next year, rendering this name change unnecessary.

On the other hand, Majin Bu presents another theory based on insider information. According to the tipster, the iPhone 15 Ultra will be a separate model, distinct from the iPhone 15 Pro Max. While the Pro Max is rumored to come with 6GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, the iPhone 15 Ultra would boast 8GB of RAM, up to 2TB of storage, and enhanced camera features. Majin Bu predicts that the iPhone 15 Ultra will be priced $100 higher than the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

It is worth noting that a potential name change is more likely to occur next year. There are rumors that the Pro Max screen size will increase from the current 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches on the iPhone 16. Majin Bu’s thread suggests that case manufacturers are unsure about the iPhone 15 names, which may explain why there are two separate versions. However, the tipster personally believes that there will be only one iPhone Pro Max with the characteristics of the Ultra model.

As always, we must wait for concrete evidence or the upcoming September 12 product event to confirm Apple’s intentions. Until then, it remains uncertain which features and names the iPhone 15 series will carry.
