Apple’s Camera Tricks in iPhone 15: A Must-have for Galaxy and Pixel

The new iPhone 15 Pro camera system is making some bold claims, but there’s more to it than just the 5x zoom camera. Apple has introduced several upgrades that could greatly enhance the photo and video quality on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro.

One of the standout features is the completely revamped Portrait mode. Users can now take Portrait mode photos without having to switch to the mode beforehand. The phone automatically captures depth information when there’s a person, dog, or cat in the frame, allowing users to turn their photos into portraits later in the Photos app. Additionally, users can adjust the focus point after capturing the photo, providing more flexibility and artistic control.

Another significant upgrade is the increase in default photo resolution. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro will now take 24MP photos, thanks to their 48MP cameras. This departure from the standard 12MP photos taken by previous iPhones could result in sharper and more detailed images, with a more authentic look. However, it’s worth noting that Night Mode will still default to capturing 12MP photos due to the benefits of pixel-binning in low-light conditions.

Apple has also added several software and hardware upgrades to address some of the major issues with the iPhone 14 Pro’s camera. These upgrades include the addition of 28mm-35mm focal lengths to the main camera, allowing for more professional-looking photos without any loss of quality. The new Action button in the iPhone 15 Pro acts as a shortcut to launch the Camera app and can even serve as a physical shutter key. Spatial video capture is now available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, allowing for a more immersive viewing experience on Apple Vision Pro. Additionally, the new lens coating promises to reduce lens flaring, addressing a persistent issue in previous iPhone models.

Overall, while the 5x zoom camera in the iPhone 15 Pro Max may be grabbing all the attention, the other camera upgrades introduced with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro are likely to make a bigger difference in everyday use for most users. From the revamped Portrait mode to the increased default photo resolution, these upgrades have the potential to enhance the overall photography experience on the new iPhones.
