Bank Decreases its Forecast for iPhone 15 Series Production in 2023 by a Considerable 13.1%

Phones Canada’s team has some concerning news about the production estimates for the upcoming iPhone 15 line. Japanese banking firm Mizuho has cut its estimated production numbers from 84 million to 73 million for 2023, which is a reduction of 11 million or 13.1%. This is a larger cut compared to another analyst’s estimate. For the entire year, Mizuho now forecasts Apple to produce 217 million iPhone units, down by 10 million or 4.4% from the original estimate of 227 million.

There are a couple of reasons behind this decrease. First, there are reports of a potential drop in demand for the new iPhones. Additionally, there might be a price increase for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which could also negatively impact demand. Rumors suggest a possible $100 price hike for the iPhone 15 Pro and a $200 raise for the iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra.

Another factor contributing to the production cut is the delay in shipments for the iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra. This delay is attributed to the periscope lens, a new feature in iPhones that enables higher optical zoom capabilities. However, Sony, the supplier of the camera sensors, is experiencing difficulties in delivering them on time. As a result, the iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra might be delayed until October 20th, while the other models could be released on September 22nd.

While split releases have been seen in the past, this delay might disappoint customers who were planning to purchase the iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra. Last year, the iPhone 14 Plus was released 22 days later than the other three models. Similar delays have occurred in previous years as well.

Phones Canada’s team will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on the production estimates and release dates of the iPhone 15 series.
