Confirmation: The OnePlus Open and OPPO Find N3 Revealed as the Same Device

OnePlus and OPPO, two prominent brands in the Android smartphone market, have joined forces to introduce their first foldable phone, the OnePlus Open. This device will replace the highly anticipated OPPO Find N3 and is rumored to launch later this month with a price range of $1,000 to $1,300.

In an exclusive interview with Unbox Therapy, Pete Lau, the Founder of OnePlus and SVP of OPPO, provided a sneak peek at the upcoming OnePlus Open, the first foldable device by OnePlus, along with some insights on its uniqueness and the marketing strategy for its launch.

During the interview, Lau was asked about the similarities between this product and an OPPO folding device and how he distinguishes between the two brands. Lau responded by saying:

“This folding phone is a result of collaboration between the OPPO team and the OnePlus team. We wanted to leverage the expertise and experience from both teams. The OPPO team has accumulated a strong understanding of foldable design and camera technologies, while OnePlus is renowned for its fast and smooth user experience, lightweight design, and exceptional hardware performance. So, we decided to combine the best aspects of these two teams and create this folding phone. We will also adopt different go-to-market strategies in various regions to ensure that more users can experience this device.”

The OnePlus Open/OPPO Find N3 is rumored to boast various impressive features, including the highest pixel density among current folding displays. This indicates that the display will be exceptionally sharp and clear, even when folded. Lau also confirmed that the phone will have a more compact hinge compared to its predecessor, the Find N2, making it lighter and more durable.

Another notable feature of the OnePlus Open/OPPO Find N3 is the textured alert slider, which was showcased during the interview. This signature OnePlus feature allows users to easily switch their phone to silent or vibration mode. The alert slider has been well-received by OnePlus fans, and it’s great to see it included in the company’s first foldable phone.

Unfortunately, the camera housing for the device was covered during the interview, as were all b-roll shots. Additionally, Lau mentioned that there are currently no plans to introduce a flip-style phone to their lineup, although this may change in the future.

Overall, the OnePlus Open/OPPO Find N3 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting foldable phones of the year. With its high-resolution display, compact hinge, alert slider, and rumored powerful specs, it is expected to be a hit among consumers.
