Discover How iOS 17.5 Bug Revives Deleted Photos on iPhone – Phones Canada Blog

Have you heard about the latest bug in Apple’s iOS 17.5 update? Users on Reddit are reporting that old photos, previously deleted, are mysteriously reappearing in their photo libraries. Here’s what we know so far:

– Some users were shocked to find old NSFW photos, deleted in 2021, suddenly showing up in their photo library marked as recently uploaded to iCloud.
– Other users shared similar stories, with photos deleted as far back as 2023 resurfacing in their libraries.
– One user even mentioned a random photo from a past concert appearing as if it was added recently.

The cause of this issue is still unclear, but possible reasons could include indexing bugs, photo library corruption, or syncing issues between local devices and iCloud Photos. It’s unlikely to be related to recently deleted photos since Apple’s Photos app only retains deleted items for 30 days.

Speculation suggests that attempts to fix syncing bugs in iOS 17.3 may have inadvertently triggered new problems with iCloud backups. Some users running iOS 17.5 developer beta 4 had reported similar experiences earlier.

As of now, Apple has not provided an official statement or solution for this issue. Stay tuned for updates and possible fixes from the tech giant.
