Enhanced Circle to Search Feature on Tablets and Foldable Phones with Android 15 Upgrade

Google’s Circle to Search feature is a convenient tool that allows users to search for anything on their screen with a simple tap and hold. Initially launched on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, Google has been expanding this feature to more devices, including the Pixel Tablet.

Recently, Google rolled out Circle to Search on the Pixel Tablet, but there was a minor issue with its functionality when using the action key on Android 15. The action key is a button on the Android taskbar that opens the floating app drawer. Users can find it by swiping up on the navigation handle of their Pixel Tablet or Pixel Fold.

The problem arose because the navigation handle disappears when switching to the persistent taskbar, preventing users from accessing Circle to Search. This issue stemmed from a new feature in Android 15 DP2 that allows users to switch between different taskbar styles.

Thankfully, Android 15 Beta 3 has addressed this issue by enabling Circle to Search activation via holding down the action key, regardless of the taskbar style being used. This update eliminates the need to constantly switch back and forth between taskbar styles just to utilize Circle to Search.

Moreover, Android 15 Beta 3 has also introduced split-screen support for Circle to Search, allowing users to search while having multiple apps open simultaneously. This enhancement enhances user experience by making it easier and more efficient to search for information while multitasking on their devices.
