Gmail for Android will soon have an easy-to-access “unsubscribe” button

Phones Canada is happy to report that Google is currently testing a new feature on the latest version of the Android Gmail app, making it easier for users to unsubscribe from promotional bulk email senders with the click of a button. This feature has been available via the web for some time now, and it is great to see that it may soon be coming to the mobile app as well.

The unsubscribe button is designed to appear on top of emails, allowing users to easily find and unsubscribe from unwanted emails. While this button may sometimes take you to the sender’s website to unsubscribe, it usually works automatically and provides a confirmation, streamlining the process for users.

This feature is not yet live for all users, and it requires a hidden flag to be enabled in the newer version of Gmail. This suggests that the feature is still in the testing phase and may not be ready for prime time yet.

The addition of this feature to the Gmail Android app is likely in response to Google’s new guidelines for commercial emails, requiring senders to include a one-click unsubscribe button that is clearly visible in the message. Google’s implementation of this feature will make it easier for users to manage their email subscriptions and quickly unsubscribe from unwanted emails.

Overall, this feature has the potential to save users time and effort, particularly for those who regularly need to manage their email feed. We look forward to the widespread roll-out of this feature in the near future.
