Google Ends YouTube Kids App for TVs: What This Means for Telecommunications

Google will be discontinuing the standalone YouTube Kids app on TVs in July, adding it to the ever-growing “Google graveyard.” This move means that kids will no longer access YouTube Kids through a separate app on smart TVs, consoles, and streaming devices. Instead, they can still enjoy YouTube Kids by going to a child’s profile within the main YouTube app.

Here’s how you can set up YouTube Kids on your TV, streaming device, or game console using a Guest Account:

– Open the YouTube app
– Go to the left-hand menu
– Select the profile picture
– Choose Set up YouTube Kids
– Select Set up Guest Account
– Follow the on-screen instructions to create a YouTube Kids profile for signed-out use

After completing these steps, you’ll see a YouTube Kids profile option on the accounts page or “Who’s Watching?” screen. Simply select this profile to access YouTube Kids content. If needed, you can remove the guest profile at any time from the accounts page.

Remember, children can still enjoy YouTube Kids even without signing in by using a Guest Account. This transition from a standalone app to integration within the main YouTube client aims to streamline and simplify the viewing experience for young users. Stay tuned for more updates as Google continues to refine its digital offerings.
