Google Launches Family Password Sharing Feature in Password Manager: Simplifying Security for Loved Ones!

We’ve been eagerly anticipating the introduction of password-sharing to Google Password Manager for some time now. After leaks hinted at it, Google officially confirmed the news back in February 2024. Fast forward three months, and the feature is finally starting to roll out.

In its May 2024 Google Play Services update (v24.20), Google unveiled the inclusion of password-sharing within Google Password Manager. Here are some key points to note about this new feature:

– You can securely share your passwords with family members in your family group.
– Your family members will receive a copy of the shared password in their Google Password Manager for easy access.
– This feature can be helpful for managing shared responsibilities like daycare arrangements or school assignments, as well as sharing access to streaming services.

Google also introduced new functionality to App Activity with this update, allowing parents to monitor children’s app usage through various time limit settings.

To check if your device has received the May 2024 Play system update, follow these steps:
1. Go to Settings
2. Select Security & Privacy
3. Choose System & Updates
4. Tap on Google Play System Update

If you see a prompt about family sharing in Google Password Manager after updating, that means the feature is available for you. Keep in mind that Google is rolling out this feature gradually, so it may not appear immediately after installing the latest Play system update.

Stay tuned for more updates and improvements as Google continues to enhance its services for an even better user experience.
