Insider Discloses Upcoming Image Sensor to Replace 200MP ISOCELL HP2 in Galaxy S24 Ultra

According to reliable tipster Ice Universe, Samsung is planning to use an optimized ISOCELL HP2SX 200MP image sensor for the primary camera on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Although the phone is not expected to be released until the first quarter of 2024, this sensor is likely to bring improvements in photography capabilities compared to its predecessor.

Ice Universe mentioned in a recent tweet that the main camera on the Galaxy S24 Ultra will feature a 200MP ISOCELL HP2SX image sensor, boasting similar specifications to the HP2 sensor. This includes a 1/1.3″ sensor size and 0.6μm pixel size. The new sensor is expected to be an optimized version of the HP2, enhancing the phone’s photography performance. Additionally, Ice Universe has also shared details about a new 50MP sensor that will enable 3x optical zoom on the Galaxy S24 Ultra and deliver high-quality 5x images.

Apart from the camera enhancements, there have been rumors suggesting that the Galaxy S24 Ultra might offer an expanded storage range. While Samsung’s 2024 flagship lineup is rumored to start at 128GB, there are speculations that the storage options could go up to a staggering 2TB. However, it’s worth noting that many consumers often overestimate their storage needs, as shown by examples of users who have not fully utilized the available storage space even on devices like the 512GB Pixel 6 Pro and the 256GB iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Interestingly, while the Galaxy S23 lineup globally features the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy SoC, Samsung might adopt a cost-saving approach for the Galaxy S24 series. To allocate more budget for larger memory options on the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, it is reported that Samsung might switch back to Exynos processors for certain Galaxy S24 models in select markets.

Overall, the Galaxy S24 Ultra appears to be an exciting prospect with its anticipated camera improvements and potential expansion of storage options. We look forward to learning more about the upcoming flagship from Samsung in the coming months.
